Iconic action stars together in Expendables
MANILA, Philippines - The first-ever gathering of Hollywood’s iconic action stars finally hits the big screen with a worldwide premiere on Aug. 13.
A movie-event akin to the trio of Lebron, Wade and Bosh teaming-up in one NBA team, The Expendables got instant attention with a trailer showcasing an all-star cast, especially one eye-catching scene in a church where the troika of Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis is seen together for the first time in Hollywood history.
The plot depicts Stallone as a leader of highly trained mercenaries sent to South America to overthrow a dictator. Stallone co-stars with big name acts
which include Jason Statham, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Steve Austin and Dolph Lundgren.
The project, with Stallone as writer-director, is patterned after ’80s-style blockbuster action movies where the good guys are one-man armies
An exciting treat for all movie buffs, most especially fans of convincing on-screen tough-guys, The Expendables is loaded with interesting characters. Transporter star Statham plays a close quarters combat expert, Li a skilled martial artist, Lundgren a Swedish sniper and Rourke, an ex-Expendable who’s now a tattoo parlor owner.
The Expendables, released by MVP Pictures, is distributed locally by Viva International Pictures.
