US-RP Hip-Hop Summer Camp

MANILA, Philippines - Media representatives are invited to a media day at the National Arts Center in Mt. Makiling, Los Baños, Laguna today. Youth participants to the US-RP Hip-Hop Happy Summer Camp will perform cool hip-hop dance routines choreographed by Cultural Envoy Lenaya “Tweetie” Straker with US Ambassador to the Philippines Harry Thomas Jr.

US Embassy Manila, in cooperation with the Cultural Center of the Philippines and Ballet Philippines, is hosting. Straker is a dance instructor at the prestigious Alvin Ailey Dance Theater of New York. The summer camp is a 12-day workshop of creative interaction with 50 Filipino teenagers and their community mentors from different regions in the country.

It aims to promote understanding among young people throughout the Philippines within the context of modern urban dance.
