NGC's first Pinoy docu bags Anvil Award

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - National Geographic Channel (NGC) was honored with the Anvil Award of Merit in this year’s Anvil Awards Competition for its first locally-produced documentary, Asia’s Titanic.

Conducted by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines, the Anvil Awards represent the pinnacle of achievement and the highest standards of performance in public relations.

Asia’s Titanic focuses on the tragic story of the M/V Doña Paz which sank after colliding with an oil tanker off Mindoro Island just five days before Christmas 1987. The documentary aims to create maximum awareness on the M/V Doña Paz tragedy through a high-quality Filipino documentary made in the hallmark standards of NGC and to showcase the creative talent of Filipino filmmakers.

Asia’s Titanic was considered a success when it generated significant amount of publicity after its advanced media preview and press conference last August 2009 in Makati City.
