Angelica is Rubi

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Angelica Panganiban shines on ABS-CBN’s next primetime series, Rubi, as she’s dubbed as television’s Primetime Gem.

Angelica has earned the right to star in one of the biggest projects of ABS-CBN for the first quarter of 2010. Her nearly 18 years of experience in the entertainment industry have sharpened her skills as an actress. Angelica went through the ladder of success without skipping a single step. Thus, she has all the right to be called the “gem” of her generation.

After being awarded Villain of the Year (2008) in the first Supreme to the Extreme Awards of The Philippine STAR for her portrayal of the character Scarlet in Iisa Pa Lamang, Angelica re-verifies the tag given to her as she gives life to the strong-willed Rubi, a woman driven by a dark ambition that will be hindered by no one and nothing in getting what she wants to escape from poverty and to live the rich life.

Asked if she is pressured with the role and the project, Angelica admits that more than the pressure, it’s a challenge that pushes her to do well. “Yes, there’s pressure more than the pressure, the challenge to play the role well prevails.”

She adds, “I’m excited. Ngayon lang siguro ako hindi kinabahan na alam mo yon, may ilalabas kang project parang sa ’yo nakapangalan yung show, sobrang excited and proud and happy yung nararamdaman ko talaga.”

ABS-CBN has acquired the rights from Televisa for the remake of Rubi. It will be the first collaboration of the popular Mexican multimedia conglomerate and the network.

Witness how Angelica sizzles in her biggest break on primetime television Rubi, starting Feb. 15 on ABS-CBN.
