Movie queen Gloria Romero came out on the cover of Weekly Graphic twice wearing Pitoy Moreno creations. First on Nov. 7, 1962 (solo) and second on Aug. 28, 1963 (with Moreno himself and Conchitina Sevilla, Joji Felix Velarde, Chona Recto Kasten and Mary Prieto).
Miss Romero and the socialites were Pitoy Moreno models in the fashion show Karilagan ’63 which showcased the creations of other top Manila couturiers, sponsored by the Philippine Couture Association.
The movie queen — the most regal ever — was then the signature model of the legendary Ramon Valera, named National Artist some years back. Moreno, billed ‘Fashion Czar of Asia,’ was proclaimed National Artist this year.
