My favorite Halloween movies

Joy Jonette Chuyaco - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - It is Halloween season once again, and that means scary films are the top choice for movie nights. Just after watching those extremely terrifying movies, why not balance it with some funny and entertaining Halloween movies? It will still have the same Halloween feel; the difference is that it’s relaxing and entertaining, plus, the whole family can watch, even the kids — no worries about who can’t sleep at night. Happy Halloween, everyone!

Scooby-Doo. Join Scooby-Doo and his human friends (Daphne, Velma, Shaggy and Fred) as they solve a case about a strange happening in the Spooky Island. This movie is sure entertainment for the family, especially with the huge but cute dog Scooby-Doo leading the team.

Ghost Busters. Who could ever forget the guys who save people from ghosts and ghouls? Let Peter, Egan, Winston and Ray share with your family their spooky yet funny, adventures. The popular theme song will surely bring back lots of memories. It was a hit in the ‘80s!

Corpse Bride. Victor just can’t say his wedding vows right, so he went to the woods to make himself focus and rehearse his vows. What was supposed to be just a rehearsal turns out to be a real marriage when Victor slips a ring into a corpse’s finger. Now, he has a corpse for a bride. How will Victor get out of this marriage? How will he explain this to his real bride-to-be?

Coraline. What if there’s a version of your life in another dimension? Will you be willing to watch it or even enter that world? This is a movie about a girl who found out there’s another version of her life. She dares go in, but it seems getting out of it is not that easy. Will Coraline find her way back to her real life?

Casper. The ghost everybody adores; Casper, is a good-hearted spirit of a boy who just loves to make friends even with humans. He befriends Kat, whose father is a paranormal expert. Kat and her father live in Casper’s spooky mansion for a while because a client wants to get rid of the ghosts in it. This is a unique, heartwarming Halloween film for the family.

Addams Family. The Addams Family is not your ordinary family. They are strange but nice; they look different but they’re also human. They do have common family problems just like ordinary families. Watch the movie and get to know them. No, there’s nothing to be afraid of, they are just one-of-a-kind.

Hell Boy. How can a creature from hell have a good heart? Hell Boy is one example. As a baby, he was adopted by a good-hearted man who taught him good values. Now, an adult, Hell Boy helps the government fight bad guys. He is not alone; he works with a team. They protect mankind with Hell Boy as leader.

Monsters, Inc. Finally, here’s a film that will help kids not to be afraid of monsters anymore. In fact, kids will love the monsters watching the film. It tackles the lives of monsters in the closet, which scare kids until they scream aloud;. But believe it or not, the monsters are afraid the kids might contaminate them. Nothing personal, the monsters are just doing their job.

Monster House. Be careful where you knock for “Trick or Treat” on Halloween. You might just be knocking at a monster house. This movie is about a group of kids who discovered that the house across the street is a monster itself and it’s going to eat the kids who dare come for “trick or treat.”

Harry Potter. Join the adventures of Harry, Hermione, and Ron as they enter and study in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Here they will meet different kinds of odd creatures and humans that are not so human.. It’s not your ordinary school; it’s full of magic, enchantment and mystery.
