Chynna wants to be the first to know

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Chynna Ortaleza always wants to be the first to know. This makes her and Railey Valeroso’s relationship thriving all these years.

“Of course, I do appreciate it,” says the young actress when Railey discusses the nitty-gritty of issues that concern them as couple. “I always tell him that if you do something, you just tell me first. So, I won’t be surprised. At least I know what happens and I will stop wondering why. We’re always like that in our relationship. We talk things over.”

One example was when Railey learned about his intimate scene with co-star Karylle in their soap. Chynna recalls her boyfriend couldn’t tell it straight to her face because Railey didn’t want her to get jealous. By the way, Railey desisted from watching Chynna’s kissing and bed scenes on GMA 7’s Paano Ba Ang Mangarap?

So, what was Chynna’s reaction when Railey finally told her about that intimate scene? Chynna says she just advised him to be good in that scene.

What if Karylle and Railey become off-screen lovers?

“I can’t do anything about it,” answers Chynna with a smile.

Chynna’s confidence in Railey’s love gives her that glow which fans see in her various gigs, like the recent Sisters Sanitary Napkins provincial tour at the Sioland Supermarket, Calamba, Laguna.

Chynna was enthusiastic to meet the crowd and espouse the importance of education, one of the brand’s advocacies. The other is to be clean and healthy. Her bubbly, amiable personality made people forget the villain Maya that she portrayed in Paano Ba Ang Mangarap?

She surprised everyone in Lucena by doing something she has never done before: Sing. Chynna had a dance face-off with chosen female students who gyrated to the tune of Wonder Girls’ Nobody.

Chynna and Aileen Go, VP of Megasoft, makers of Sisters Sanitary Napkins, recognized top female students in Calamba and gifted them loot bags. Chynna’s photo op with fans capped the event.

The GMA Artist talent is happy that S.O.P. won at the recently-concluded Catholic Mass Media Awards. Chynna says their hard work for coming up with dance numbers paid off. She along with Mark Herras, Ryza Cenon, LJ Reyes, Migui Moreno and Mart Escudero would practice twice a week for a dance fusion and once for an opening number.

As a group, the S.O.P. mainstay shares it is important for them to harmonize because they are not dancers. They are just artists who can dance.

How’s the indie Ukay-Hukay where she plays a ghost? “I don’t know what happened,” replies Chynna. “From what I have heard, it won’t be pushed through.”

This doesn’t discourage Chynna from joining the indie bandwagon. In fact, she wants to play offbeat characters in indie films.

“I want to portray a mentally-challenged individual or a vampire,” she says. “Doing horror interests me. I’ve had this liking for vampires since I was nine. I don’t know why. No one encouraged me. I remember my mom frowning whenever I asked her to buy me Anne Rice, instead of a children’s book.”

That’s the ideal Bella Swan for you.
