Why we love Bea so
On our TV shows, we promote movies, soap operas, documentaries, love teams, celebrity magazines — and whatever tools there are — to enhance the image of public figures. In promo lingo, movies are always the best. “Binigay ko talaga ang lahat dito.” “Kakaiba ang istorya.” “Hindi dahil sa nandito ako, pero maganda talaga ang pelikulang ito.” These are some of the lines that you would almost always hear from movie stars promoting movies. Of course not all of them are lying. Some of them are actually truthful. Next time you watch tv, watch out for these lines — and watch keenly so you would know who to believe.
Other lines are “Panoorin niyo po, sigurado po akong matutuwa kayo.” “Napakaganda po ng pelikula namin, suportahan nyo po kami.” “Pinaghirapan po namin ang pelikulang ito. Panoorin nyo po.”
But here’s a nice story about promoting movies.
Bea Alonzo has always been special to me and Kris Aquino. She’s one of the most talented, fascinating, good looking actors of her generation.
I saw And I Love You So twice. Kris watched it also two times. Nanay watched it five times because of Sam Milby.
Bea delivers a sensitive, honest, compelling performance in this movie. You know she gave her all in every scene. You felt it. You smelled it. She grabs you by your heart and makes you cry, even wail, in her painful dramatic moments. You also know that this is just the beginning of a long, dramatic career for Bea. Bravo also goes to direk Lauren Dyogi for a job brilliantly done.
In this business, it is longevity that separates superstars from stars. And Bea is on her way to dramatic superstardom.
And she’s grateful.
She wrote thank you notes to me and Kris with matching presents. This is admirable in a landscape where people only notice puns and barbs, seldom praise.
Bea is not the only one profuse with gratitude. The Solid Cyber Tropa of Bea Alonzo (National and International) is equally grateful for the little help we extended in the promotion of And I Love You So. They sent food and presents to us and the staff of SNN and The Buzz. Part of their letter reads, “We would like to express our sincere gratitude for all the support you have extended to Ms. Bea Alonzo. We are overwhelmed by the kind words you have said about Bea and her performance in And I Love You So. We fervently hope for your continued support not only to Bea but also to other deserving artists.”
How many people actually come back and say thank you?
How many stars actually find time to write short notes to say thank you for appreciating their work?
Not that they have to — but it truly touches the heart when someone expresses gratitude.
Thank you Bea. Thank you Solid Cyber Tropa of Bea Alonzo (National and International).
