Alfred jumping into politics
Alfred Vargas is running for councilor in the second district of Quezon City. The actor will take his oath one of these days as member of Lakas. There is no one in his family who is into politics. But there is also no one in his family who is into showbiz.
But the will to cross over to the political arena is unstoppable. It has been in his mind. He may not have the “training” but surely he has been into politics in school at the Ateneo. He was an active student leader in school. “Gusto ko ring makatulong,” he explains. “I also want to effect change. Kahit sa maliit na paraan.” Alfred, when elected, will get himself involved in projects for the youth, and for women.
He is not getting any younger, he says. And he thinks this might be the time for him to enter politics. “Pagkakataon ko na,” he says.
It is not that his career as an actor is waning, the reason why he is “jumping ship.” On the contrary, his career is flying high. Alfred delivered a sterling performance in the movie Colorum, which was in competition at the recently concluded Cinemalaya Film Festival. “It was fantastic working with Lou Veloso,” who won the Best Actor trophy. “We had chemistry.” Colorum will run in the festival circuits at Brussels, Makaresh and Tokyo. He is also part of GMA 7’s Darna.
Lately, Alfred was introduced as one of the two new endorsers of Calayan Surgicenter along with Sunshine Dizon. “We are pampered at Calayan. And we are friends,” he says of Doc Manny. Calayan Surgicenter will take care of making Alfred and Sunshine look even better.
Alfred is one of the most eligible bachelors in the industry. He is not vain he says, 15 to 20 minutes use of the bathroom and he is done. To maintain his body, he sleeps a lot, exercises and watches movies to relax.
Sunshine has always been a part of Calayan Surgicenter. Doc Manny has done so well on Sunshine’s baby fat particularly those at the back and in her arms. Doc Manny will be taking care of Sunshine’s skin and her body as well. “Toning ng skin and maintenance na rin ng body figure,” says Doc Manny. Sunshine is very open about her lipo treatments with Doc Manny. “I am happy to be a part of the Calayan campaign,” says Sunshine who was supposed to be on the cover of FHM magazine but her parents put their foot down and the chance to be on the cover went kaput.
Calayan Surgicenter will soon open a branch in Beverly Hills at the famous Sunset Boulevard.
