MANILA, Philippines – The Moro pearl market at Greenhills Shopping Complex in San Juan has become a paradise for local and foreign pearl shoppers.

The Greenhills pearl market has been written about in posh fashion magazines like Vogue as the place to buy pearls.

Ordinary shoppers with just a few pesos to spare are just as welcome as VIPs from Forbes, Corinthian, Dasmariñas, Ayala Alabang or the Queen of Spain (who is said to have come to Greenhills to buy pearls incognito).

Even former First Lady Imelda Marcos and US Ambassador Kristie Kenney with friends and relatives were also spotted. Big names in the entertainment world, government, business, sports and media mix with bargain hunters and shoppers.

VIPs shop at Greenhills because other shoppers and sales personnel consider them ordinary people unlike in other places where they disturb them for signature signing, picture taking or chatting.
