Harvest time for MBC stations

The Philippine Star

The latest Radio Research Council surveys have shown stations of Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC) taking top spots for Metro Manila and Mega Manila. DZRH clinched the No. 1 spot on the AM band, while 90.7 Love Radio continues to retain its lead over all other FM stations — a feat it has achieved for six years now. 101.1 YESFM also climbed back into second place.

MBC also announced its acquisition of DWRK, popularly known as 96.3 Wrock — currently the top-rating niche station in Metro Manila — under a memorandum of agreement with ACWS-United Broadcasting Network, Inc. and Exodus Broadcasting Company.

Coming on the heels of the back-to-back top-rating status achieved by MBC stations on the AM and FM bands, awards bestowed on dzRH programs have given the network something more to be proud of.

At the recently-concluded 30th Catholic Mass Media Awards, Sugpuin ang Korupsyon,a joint production of MBC with the Cultural Center of the Philippines, emerged as Best Public Service Program and Best Drama Program for Radio. Art2Art, hosted by Lisa Macuja-Elizalde, received a special citation as one of five finalists for Best Educational Program.

The International Association of Business Communicators honored Land Bank sa dzRH at Radyo Natin a merit award for outstanding achievement in communication at the Philippine Quill Awards.

Meanwhile, RHTV has begun its 24-hour broadcast over Dream Cable (Channel 10) and Cable Link (Channel 9). Through the agreement signed with various members of the Federation of International Cable TV Associations of the Philippines, dzRH is now accessible to a nationwide tv audience and to international televiewers.

RHTV is poised to strengthen its competitiveness in Metro Manila and the provinces. It conceptualized new programs, fielding MBC’s homegrown talents to air on TV while popular dramas air on dzRH.

Technical and creative consultants from the TV and advertising sectors here and abroad have also been tapped to help improve day-to-day operations as the station makes its full transition from radio to joint radio and TV broadcasting.
