The thrill-filled Ride to Fame
To dream is sometimes not enough. You have to chase your dream and ride to fame.
This is what the 12 finalists of Coke Ride to Fame, which airs every Sunday after S.O.P., are prepared to do every week.
They are bound to upstage one another as they show their knack for singing, dancing and writing songs. Choosing the wrong song or dance movement could mean elimination.
Thus, the six male and female contestants must be in their best musical form. Falling short of every expectation or challenge is the last thing one could do.
What’s interesting about Coke Ride to Fame is its Coke Fame Bus which will bring the contestants to destinations to learn the tasks and perform them.
During the show’s presscon at Ratsky-Morato, Alchris Galura, Lex Uy, Daryl Lagos and Giu Comia have shown what it takes to become a total performer.
Alchris is the most experienced among the challengers in terms of working in front of the camera. Proof is his Cinemalaya 2006 Best Actor trophy for Batad sa Sapang Palay.
The singer-actor’s forte is soul which he plans to fuse in every musical challenge on the show. Giving up, Alchris shares, is the last thing he will do in life and in the competition.
Aside from his talent in singing and composing songs, Daryl believes his energy level and confidence will help him reach the finals. He is into rock and R ‘n B.
Does looks matter in a performer? Daryl replies, “Yes. He should be presentable and approachable. He must have the charisma, too. Overall package does count.”
Flexibility is Lex’s edge over the others, he says. Lex can sing all kinds of songs. His falsetto is good and his vocals can reach high notes.
The vocalist of a Davao-based band says one must not let go of any chance to fulfill one’s dream.
Making it to the Final 12 makes Giu feel like a winner this early. He is happy whenever he gets the chance to perform. In performing, he is able to show the best in him and share his talent with others.
If ever he walks away with the title and the P1-M cash prize, Giu will donate 10 percent of his winnings to a charitable institution.
He banks on his dancing and singing style reminiscent of Michael Bublé, Elvis Presley and John Travolta.
Kyla, Joshua Zamora and Jimmy Antiporda will be the show’s resident judges. Their scores will be combined with the management’s and televiewers’ via SMS voting.
Alchris, Giu, Daryl and Lex hope the public will vote fair and square.
The four think televiewers are mature enough to know that Coke Ride to Fame is a talent search, not a popularity contest.
