Again, Hero & Sandara by insistent demand
March 23, 2005 | 12:00am
Its almost unbelievable how only in more than a year, Hero Angeles and Sandara Park have blossomed into the countrys well-loved, most sought-after loveteam. Its a partnership developed in a TV talent search ABS-CBNs Star Circle Quest which they both won over hundreds of other aspirants, nourished in a TV show inspired by the same search and given a bigger-screen test in Star Cinemas Bcuz of U (which features two other loveteams, Kristine Hermosa and Diether Ocampo, Heart Evangelista and Geoff Eigenmann) which turned out to be a monster hit.
The demand for a Hero-Sandara solo starrer as a loveteam hasnt stopped since then.
In answer to insistent public demand, Star Cinema has come up with a touching and heart-warming young love story that proves once and for all that true love can transcend all barriers, that true love will find a way to surmount whatever conflicts and compromises crop up along the way.
Written and directed by Jose Javier Reyes (of the 2003 hit Kung Ako Na Lang Sana), Can This Be Love is a movie tailor-made for Hero and Sandara.
"Not only their fans but even older people will love it," assured direk Joey.
Can This Be Love is the story of Ryan and Daisy. Hes a working student, pursuing Nursing while working part-time as typist of term papers, his mind set on being financially stable after graduation. Shes Korean, an exchange student studying English. She has just come up with a term paper entitled Whats Wrong With Filipinos? and asks somebody to give it to Ryan for typing.
Woe is him. He finds the term paper so full of grammatical errors he swears he hates the Korean girl who wrote it. Then, answering an ad for a cellphone for sale, Ryan befriends the owner through text messaging, only to find out before long that the writer of the term paper and the cellphone seller are one and the same girl.
As what happens in stories like this, boy and girl survive their initial dislike for each other and grow on each other, soon realizing that love can tide them through cultural differences and language barrier.
Set for a late April release, Can This Be Love also stars Roderick Paulate, Eugene "Simang" Domingo, Joross Gamboa, Roxanne Guinoo, and introduces new Star Circle Quest finds Paw Diaz and Arron Villaflor.
