Hot Pink Lingerie promises to be the biggest threat to international lingerie brand Victoria’s Secret!

Guests of all ages drooled over Hot Pink’s exciting lingerie collection, which was unveiled to the public recently during the grand opening of its first branch at the Powerplant Mall. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was graced by ABS-CBN news anchor Ces Oreña-Drilon, the lovely Lucy Torres-Gomez and Tong Padilla. Premiere Wines and Spirits made sure wine overflowed all night long while modern Japanese food was served by Chef Laudico amidst a great Zen-inspired set-up, complete with Nova lounge music by DJ Edge Pamintuan.

The 20-minute fashion show promptly started at 8 p.m., with 10 beautifully-tanned models (courtesy of my good friend, Dr. Vicki Belo’s quick tanning services) sashaying down the ramp with Hot Pink’s hot, hot lingerie collection.

Owned by Carlo Garcia (son of former ABS-CBN President, the brilliant Freddie Garcia, whom I terribly miss) and his lovely wife Kaye, Hot Pink Lingerie is a 100 percent Filipino-owned store. Kaye in fact, designs Hot Pink’s collection, which is made from imported materials but manufactured locally.

"Every woman wants to look good, even in bed. This is the reason why Victoria’s Secret became such a huge hit worldwide. This inspired my husband and I to come up with our own collection of top-of-the-line lingerie at par with the best in the world. After all, quality need not be that expensive right? In fact, our guests during the launch appreciated our products so much and welcomed our reasonable price points," shares Kaye.

Bamboo’s As The Music Plays

Bamboo is a new band whose love for music is as huge as its talent. While its members are some of the most experienced and most talented in the local scene, their passion for their craft is as strong as ever. As you listen to their debut, As The Music Plays, Bamboo’s straight out music will leave you dumbfounded and helplessly wanting for more.

The album displays an interesting fusion of rock, funk, jazz and alternative music. Noypi, the first single displays this very well. It was no. 1 on radio charts for quite sometime, which emphasizes the audiences’ need for a band with something more to offer than mediocre music. With influences ranging from Miles Davis to 311 to Ben Harper, Bamboo’s music is definitely fresh as it is diverse.

The four members of Bamboo are among the most respected musicians in the local music scene. Bamboo is led by a man who goes by the same name–Bamboo Manalac, Rivermaya’s vocalist in the 90s. Joining Bamboo are Ira Cruz on guitars; Nathan Azarcon on bass and Vic Mercado on drums. Vic is also the one responsible for the utterly popular percussion instrument K-hon.

Together, they make for one tight and talented band. As The Music Plays contains 10 tracks that showcase Bamboo’s impressive musicianship, tight sound, and the group’s stirring awareness of their own identities as Filipinos. More than that perhaps, As The Music Plays encapsulates the band’s amazing energy on stage. They are one of the top live acts around and their album reflects just that.

"The album says a lot, you know," Bamboo says enthusiastically. "It is about pride, about love, hope and peace."
