Kaye discards her snooty image
March 12, 2004 | 12:00am
Multi-talented radio personality and occasional entertainment talent Kaye Dacer loves being reading what other people have written about her.
She cherishes the positive statements by the likes of the late Lourdes "Inday Badiday" Carvajal whom she used to amaze. She particularly treasures what the late entertainment editor Manny Pichel wrote about her as being "a precious gem yet still to be discovered." With pride in her voice when she recited these praises, there was no mistaking she enjoys their emotional content.
Six years later, Kaye became a pro at broadcasting, earning the endearing tag of "Action Lady" from thousands of people she has helped. Using broadcasting as a platform for her serve-the-people mission, is there something the public is still clueless about Kaye?
It was not hard to find as it came from Kaye herself. A Rufa Mae Quinto lookalike but with a more to-die-for soundbyte, Kaye says that behind the snooty image is a kind person.
She shares, "I encourage this image so its I who must undo it. Im trying to be a bit more sweet. Sana naman they dont accuse me of trying to copy Korina Sanchez again."
You see, Kaye used to be a hard-hitting commentator like Korina and their voices register similarly on air. But she got burned with the similarity so she decided to be different. These days, she prefers to a more constructive announcer.
Among her health and livelihood projects, she takes pride in having raised P3 million in less than a month for marginalized billiary atresia patient. She seems ready to translate her natural sincerity into concrete action.
Her former co-anchors being busy on the campaign trail, Kaye got Ambassador Roy Señeres to pinch-hit for Mayor Alfredo Lim in Aksyon Ngayon (Monday to Friday, 1:30 p.m.) and Rep. Francis Escudero in Usapang de Campanilla (Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 6:30 p.m.) at DZMM. Lawyer Danny Concepcion remains as her co-anchor on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Tune in to DZMM and discover something new about the transparent but still mystifying Kaye Dacer.
