Yes, nice guys do finish first

DIRECT LINE - Boy Abunda -
John Prats claims to be just your typical average guy. He says he thinks, talks and acts just like any teener his age. But if the grand draw of Hawk’s Bag to School Promo were any indication, John is anything but average. "Kakaiba talaga kaguwapuhan niya!" gushed my staffer Jet Valle who was invited to the raffle.

In that stormy Sunday afternoon, Jet, along with hundreds of John Prats’ fans flooded the SM Megamall Atrium to see the young actor in person. John, along with sister Camille and ABS-CBN Talent Center’s Dennis Trillo and Angela Velez was there to grace the culminating activity of Hawk Bag’s promo where they raffled of a hundred bags, personal computers, cellphones and the grand prize: an all-expense paid trip for two to Hong Kong.

John was sinfully adorable, according to Jet. His impish features were highlighted by a new hairstyle – a slick punk-chic inspired do that fits his cute face. He was wearing a quarter sleeve shirt and baggy pants which he carried in a way Jet swore made him look was like he was the latest Dior duds instead of his sponsor apparel: Bench. And oh, when he danced to the latest beats with the Manouvres, the crowd swooned. He danced perfectly, not missing a beat!

When John introduced sexpot Angela Velez, he admitted his wish is to have Angela guest in Whattamen, the sitcom which he, along with Dominic Ochoa, Marvin Agustin, Vhong Navarro, Joyce Jimenez and Ai-Ai de las Alas headlines. "Dati ko pa siyang hinihiling mag-guest sa Whattamen! Sana naman one of these days matuloy na!" he shouted. Jet fumed in silent range. He swore he would deal with Angela soon.

In the audience area, a multitude of girls were extra attentive to John’s every move. On stage right, a fabulous young gay screamed so loud you would think he was being possessed by some naughty gay spirit. One woman, old enough to be John’s lola was fighting her way through the mob just to get a glimpse of him.

Despite the pandemonium, John remained cool and composed. He smiled and waved to the fans. He played along with his co-host’s bantering, trying not to be embarrassed by the occasional screams "John, ang guwapo mo! I love you!" "Minsan kasi nahihiya ako pag-nagtitilian eh!" John shyly admitted.

John Prats says he is not guwapo. His fans say this attitude makes him more appealing. "Napaka-bait niyang bata. Walang ka ere-ere sa katawan, " reveals Eric John Salut of ABS-CBN Talent Center, who recently celebrated his birthday.

Furthermore, showbiz insiders say it is his being nice and humble that would ensure John’s long ride in showbusiness. And although it would take another lifetime and a different family name to disassociate him from his sister Camille, John isn’t complaining. He once revealed in an interview that "Maganda kasi tandem namin ni Camille eh. We support each other well and unlike other sibling tandems, we intend to make it on our own and also together at the same time. I can’t change the fact na magkapatid kami. I’d like to make it on my own pero if possible, with Camille and my whole family by my side."
Disney magic
Last July 1, Disney Channel started airing on Sky Cable and I couldn’t be happier. You see, I’m a Sky Cable subscriber so I was deprived of the channel a number of years now.

But once I tuned into the Mouse Channel, I was instantly hooked by the Disney Magic! I especially like Art Attack and Disney Buzz.

And every night, I check out the movie (whether animated or live-action) featured on the Wonderful World of Disney.

I’m also looking forward to the airing of family drama Big Brother Trouble on July 26, 7:30 p.m. and of course, the animated blockbuster film Dinosaur on July 27, 11:30 a.m. Big Brother Trouble tells the tale of Mitch, who’s always competing with his older brother Sean – a soccer star. The competition gets out of hand until a challenging moment proves how unstoppable brotherly love is. Dinosaur is the journey of a three-ton Iguanadon named Aladar as he and his friends must overcome tremendous obstacles before they can settle into a new life in a beautiful valley.

Definitely, all members of the family would get a kick out of the Disney Channel so if you still ain’t tuned in, don’t be left out! Experience the Disney Magic!
