Baccay named Calabarzon police chief
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Brig. Gen. Dominic Baccay yesterday assumed as Calabarzon police director, replacing Brig. Gen. Hansel Marantan who reached the mandatory retirement age for uniformed officers.
No turnover ceremony was conducted as Marantan did not show up at the headquarters.
He reportedly opted to spend the day with his family, to celebrate his 56th birthday.
Baccay is a member of the Philippine National Police Academy “Kapanalig” Class of 1997, and has a master’s degree in Management.
He had served as Rizal police director and Calabarzon police deputy director for operation before he was designated chief of the logistics and development division at the National Capital Region Police Office.
Baccay’s appointment came after Malacañang rejected a request of Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla to extend Marantan’s service for a year.
