Police nab suspects in murder of South Korean businessman

MANILA, Philippines — The suspects in the murder of a South Korean businessman whose body was found inside an abandoned sport utility vehicle in General Tinio, Nueva Ecija last week have been arrested, the Philippine National Police announced yesterday.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said suspects Andrea Mones and her ex-boyfriend, Aaron Manuel, underwent inquest proceedings over the murder of 37-year-old Shin Bongsub.
“This swift resolution is the result of a firm, coordinated police work supported by CCTV (closed-circuit television), intelligence efforts and close coordination among our units and partners,” Nartatez said.
The two were arrested on June 19 at the Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga.
Central Luzon police director Brig. Gen. Jess Mendez said Mones masterminded the killing, while Manuel was the gunman.
The murder was tied to Mones’ P200,000 debt to Shin.
