Pakikipaglaban sa kalayaan hingi ni Robredo sa taumbayan

MANILA, Philippines - Hiniling ni Vice-President Leni Robredo sa mamamayang Pilipino ang patuloy na pakikipaglaban sa demokrasya at pagkakaisa at huwag maghi-hiwalay dahil lamang sa ibat ibang mga political differences sa bansa.

“Defending democracy is our biggest fight today. If you’re not able to lay aside our differences and talk to one another, we will be fighting enemies within as well as without,” pahayag ni Robredo nang magsalita sa ginanap na Defend Democracy Summit sa University of the Philippines, School of Economics kahapon, sa araw ng kalayaan.

Hinimok din ni Robredo ang sambayanang pilipino na huwag pabayaang maglaho ang democratic institutions  sa bansa dahil ito ang  magpapatatag sa paglaban sa anumang hamon ng kasalukuyang panahon.

“We are already seeing our institutions being eroded. They are already weakening. We must move swiftly an effectively to ensure they are strong enough for our children and  our children’s children,” dagdag ni Robredo.

Ayon pa sa bise-president, kapag may demo­krasya, may pag-angat ang kabuhayan ng mamamayan mula sa kahirapan.

“Let us not defend de­­mocracy as a concept but as a means to lessen sufferings of our people,” pahayag pa ni Robredo.
