Pinoy bags master certified coach credential from ICF

MANILA, Philippines - A pioneer of the coaching profession in the Philippines, Julius Ordonez recently earned the highest credential granted by the International Coach Federation (ICF), the leading organization of professional coaches worldwide, to its most deserving members — the Master Certified Coach (MCC) credential.

This credential is earned through a stringent qualification and evaluation process, requiring demonstrated proficiency in all facets of the coaching competencies, measured against the organization’s exacting standards.

The first and only Filipino thus far to have earned this distinction, Ordonez now takes his place in the elite circle of master coaches in the global coaching community.

Over the last 18 years, he has worked with a long list of corporate and individual clients as Executive Coach, partnering with them in identifying and attaining critical goals in their business, professional and personal lives.

From this extensive experience, including global engagements through his own company Benchmark Consulting, he has seen the multi-dimensional value coaching can create for people and organizations. It is this discernment that compels him to push for the development of more professional coaches who can help facilitate the creation of such value.

However, with the increasing appreciation of coaching as an intervention for growth and development in the country, Ordonez noted an alarming possibility of people without the right qualifications getting into the coaching practice and riding the tide.

As the founder of ICF Philippines Chapter, and an executive committee member of the Singapore-based Asia Pacific Alliance of Coaches, Ordonez rallies coaching aspirants to get the proper training and credentials before getting into the profession.

This conviction motivated him to develop his own ICF-approved Accelerated Coach Training Program (ACTP), which he offers in Manila and Singapore two to three times a year, even as he continues to do corporate coaching engagements.

The intensive, four-month ACTP covers the coaching principles, concepts and competencies aligned with the ICF, and provides for a period of practice under his guidance as Mentor-Coach.

The ACTP, with deliberately limited seats to prioritize highly committed candidates, gives Ordonez the personal satisfaction of being able to do his share in professionalizing the coaching practice.
