CEBU, Philippines — The Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association has raised a total of P1.2 million during the charity 3-point shootout that was among the side events of the SHAABAA Season 25 All-Star Games last Sunday at the Magis Eagles Arena in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City.

Six generous Cebuano business executives who are proudly Ateneo Hearters engaged in a fun-filled yet highly competitive 3-point shootout aimed at generating funds to build a gym for the varsity teams of their beloved alma mater, the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC).

They are Afshin Ghassemi, Franco Soberano, Edmund Gaisano, Dave Ting, Joseph Lo and Chase Cokaliong.

Prior to showcasing their long-distance shooting skills, they agreed to donate P200,000 each for the worthy cause.

Dave Ting of Xchange Forex Batch 2000 went on to win the charity shootout.

On the other hand, Elddie Cabahug of Bizol 2005 was the champion in the competitive 3-point shooting contest, while the Dinsays topped the family shootout.

It was a double celebration for Elddie Cabahug, who shared the limelight with Lucky Ecarma of Asian Orthopedics Batch 2014 in the showdown among the league’s brightest stars.

Cabahug was hailed as the All-Star MVP in Division B with 16 points, two rebounds, two assists and one steal as the Lux Oriens side edged Team Magis, 82-79.

Ecarma lifted the All-Star MVP trophy in Division C after producing a solid double-double of 20 points and 15 rebounds laced with three assists, two steals, and one block to power Lux Oriens to an 88-78 drubbing of the Magis squad.

In Division A, Team Magis and Lux Oriens fought to an 84-84 draw.

In the other featured match, Zachy Huang collected 17 points, six rebounds, two assists and three steals as the All-Star Selection downed the All-Star Varsity, 92-82. — EBV
