Liloan Tornadoes grab Frasco Cup basketball crownThe Liloan Tornadoes broke the hearts of Compostela Team Na May Puso , 84-77, in the deciding match of their best-of-tree finals to come out as basketball champions of the Congressman Duke Frasco 5th District Cup 2024 Season 3 on Friday, June 28, at the Carmen Sports and Civic Center in Carmen, Cebu.
Jefferson Angtud sizzled with 19 points as the Tornadoes finally clinched the title denied of them by the Carmen Niños two years ago.
Angtud drew huge support from Kiert Barrita and John Carlo Sabroso who combined for 29 points for the Tornadoes, who pocketed P150,000 for their feat.
Sabroso, a versatile playmaker, was honored as the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP), while his teammates Angtud and Uri Avila made it to the elite Mythical Five together with Compostela’s Mauro Uemura, Neil Gorgonio, and Paolo Gera.
Uemura led for Compostela TNMP with 21 points followed by John Paul Wagas with 17 points.
Gorgonio and John Anthony Aligway tallied 11 markers each for Compostela, which received P100,000 for its first runner-up finish.
