Aboitiz Cup gives way to Thirsty Cup

CEBU, Philippines - Aboitiz Football Cup will not have games today and tomorrow to give way to the staging of the 11th Thirsty Football Cup at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) football field.

This is because most of the participation teams in the Aboitiz Cup will be joining the Thirsty bootfest. The Cebu Football Association has decided not to plot schedule this weekend to give way for the other CFA-sanctioned event.

The action in the 16th Aboitiz Cup will resume next weekend.

In a related development, the Aboitiz Cup's men's open division and the under-23 will now have another venue beginning March 9 aside from the Aboitiz Sports Field that is the CCSC football field.

Organizers decided to have two venues for the remaining games in the under-23 and men's open so that they will be able to finish the 16th edition before summer the starts where more football events are expected to take place here in Cebu.

Remaining games include the under 9, 11, 13, 15, 18, under-23, girls'18, men's 38 above and the men's open. (FREEMAN)
