Football, swimming events at SHS- Ateneo Today

CEBU, Philippines - It's going to be a sporty weekend at Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu as it plays host to two sporting events today - swimming and football.

In football, all schools invited have responded to SHS-AdC’s challenge for a two-day friendly battle dubbed the 'St. Ignatius Goodwill Games'.

The teams seeing action in the 17-under division are Don Bosco Technology Center, Paref-Springdale and host SHS-AdC.

On the other hand, a total of 140 swimmers from different schools and clubs will be taking part in 2nd Friendship Swim 2012 at SHS-Ateneo's 25-meter pool.

The competing squads are the University of San Carlos, Maria Montessori International School, University of the Visayas, Sacred Heart School-Hijas de Jesus, Paref-Springdale and Southcrest, Talisay City, Palompon’s Philippine Institute of Technology, University of Bohol and Inchland Academy.

The age group being featured are the 6-under, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-17 and 18-above.

The relay competition, on the other hand, will have the 12-under, 13-17 and 18-above categories.

An overall champion in the elementary, secondary and tertiary level plus the most bemedalled swimmer in each class will be declared in the event held in association with the Visayas Integrated School Swimming Association, Inc. (VISSA).     - THE FREEMAN
