119 sign up for 100-km race

CEBU, Philippines - A total of 119 runners will join the first leg of the CUC-Ungo 100-kilometer Trilogy in Pinamungajan tomorrow.

It's going to be anybody's game with top local ultra-runners begging as they are deep in preparation for another event.

The first 25 runners to show up at Corominas Bus liner's garage near Miller Hospital will get a free ride going to the venue.

The bus leaves at 11 a.m. as announced in the event's race briefing the other night.

The action proper will kick off at 6 pm and is expected to end at 2pm on July 1 following the 20-hour cut-off time.

 Aside from trying to make it to the 20-hr cut-off time, runners will need to pass through the first 50-km within10 hours for them to be officially counted and considered for the title.

Aside from that, those who make it to the 10-hour cut will be allowed to have a pacer which they also registered earlier.

The top 3 winners will go away with trophies, gift certificates and a free race registration for the second leg of this three-part action.

Runners are advised to bring their own hydration bottles, cell phone and head lamp.

All finishers will get medals and shirts while all entries get a free ride at Jegans Bus at 4 p.m. of Sunday going back to Cebu City.

The first leg of this CUC and Ungo-organized event is sponsored by Ayala Center-Cebu, Corominas Bus, Smart, Leona's, Jegan's Bus, Congressman PJ Garcia, and the LGUs where the race would pass. (FREEMAN)
