USCBHABA Summer League opening postponed to April 15

CEBU, Philippines - In observance of the Holy Week, the formal opening of the 2012 University of San Carlos Boys High Alumni Basketball Association (USCBHABA) Summer League has been moved to April 15 at the USC-North Campus gym along General Maxilom Avenue, this city.

Initially, the tournament is scheduled to kick off tomorrow, but USCBHABA president Rocky Alcoseba said they reset it to a later date as most of the players are headed to their respective hometowns for the Holy Week.

On the other hand, Alcoseba said this year's number of participating teams at 21 is by far the biggest in the history of the league.

Seeing action in Division 1 are B-Meg Llamados '81-84, Arthro '86, RJC Customs Brokerage '87, Cafe Laguna '88, 89ers, Cebu Vet Doctors '93, USC-NC Faculty and batches '84, '90 and '91.

Competing under Division 1 are defending champion Yayoy's Grill '2002,RC Goldline '94, B95, Colorblind '97, 99ers, Type-R Realty and Development 2000, Lite Shipping 2001, Dosmiltres, Cebu Tech Jobs 2003, Park 'N Go 2005 and Mapfre Insular 2006.

"There will be no imports this time as only the alumni of the school are allowed to play," said Alcoseba.

To be played every Sunday from 8 am to 7 pm, the games will be supervised by commissioner Fredo Enriquez and technical committee chief Rey Cañete. (FREEMAN)
