Ballroom dancing, parlor games added in Copa de Casino Español

CEBU, Philippines - The organizers of this year's Copa de Casino Español have added ballroom dancing and parlor games to fuel more fun and excitement to the annual intra-sports tournament among members and invited guests of Casino Español.

"To liven the whole event, for the first time, ballroom dancing competition will be conducted. This will really bring out the dancing prowess of the members and their spouses or dependents," said event overall chairman Edito Tirol.

Parlor games such as poker, liars dice, ballot and domino will also be contested to create a genuine atmosphere of fun and fellowship among the participants.

"This year, the committee decided to include parlor games that we so popular in the yesteryears and the committee felt that many a senior and not-so senior members would really love to revive them and participate in the games. It'll be lots of fun and fellowship," added Tirol.

The Copa de Casino Español features five other sporting disciplines:bowling, golf, tennis, badminton and billiards.Traditionally, the golf tournament is participated in by different club members from Club Filipino, Mactan Island Golf and Country Club, Cebu Country Club, Alta Vista Golf and Country Club and Mercedes Golf and Country Club.

Bowling, which always brings out the lively camaraderie of the members, will be hotly contested by the different teams.

Tennis, which has been the top draw of Casino Español for a few decades now, will surely attract a good number of entries as well as badminton.

Further details of the event will be discussed by the organizers in a press conference scheduled at 4 pm on March 29 at the Casino Español de Cebu along V. Ranudo Street, this city. (FREEMAN)
