Queen City United pads win streak to five in UFL
CEBU, Philippines - Despite playing with a depleted lineup, the Cebu Queen City United FC stretched its hot streak to five games in a row and sixth overall following a 4-1 demolition of Union Internacional Manila in the Second Division of the 2012 United Football League (UFL) at the University of Makati yesterday.
Thus, the Queen City of coach Mario Ceniza firmed up their grip of the solo third place with 19 points on six wins, two losses and a draw. They did that despite half of their roster including top goalkeeper Charles Villarta stayed in Cebu to play in the semifinals of the 14th Aboitiz Football Cup.
UIM actually broke the ice of the match, but it only served as an early wake up for the Cebuano booters.
Ryan Enrique Hemide, the team's latest recruit from San Carlos City, knocked in the equalizer and moments later Rene Menchavez found the back of the net to push QCU ahead at halftime, 2-1.
After the short break, Dan Villarico lived up to his lofty billing as one of the league's leading scorers by punching in QCU's third goal.
