Bacolod's Morales clobbers foe in Cortes boxing series

CEBU, Philippines - Bacolod City's Rey Morales continued to make waves in Cebu after he clobbered University of the Visayas’ Dann Lou Codilla in the latest edition of the 3rd Mayor Jonas Cortes Cup Boxing at the Park Amateur Series at the new Mandaue public market.

Morales dominated Codilla on all range to hack out a 3-0 victory in their 55 kgs. duel.

Another Negrense fighter Juren Labordo posted a convincing 3-0 win against Cabancalan National High School’s Elmo Traya in the 58 kgs. class.

UV ended its campaign with a 3-3 win-loss card as 37 kgs. Rommel Tuñacao defeated Philippine-Australian Boxing Club’s Raymon Rama, 52 kgs. Rie Muñez outsmarted Consolacion’s Ritchie Montealto and 63 kgs. Melvin Besinga prevailed over teammate Robert Eturma, 3-0.

Flores Boxing Club, on the other hand, saw its bets winning their respective bouts. 33 kgs. Ariel Sibay overpowered PABC’s Richard Rama and 49 kgs.Welmark Dignos outpunched Sanai's Ronald Bonggo.

Bacayan’s Dominique Casañares beat Cabancalan’s Vicente Seos-e Jr. in the 30 kgs., while Pit-os’ Warren Gabumpa edged out Cabancalan's Jeramil Alcober in the 46 kgs. division. - THE FREEMAN
