ERUF 161 Run on Sunday

Before anything else, I would like to welcome to Cebu all delegates to the 5th Philippine Society for Industrial Security (PSIS) National Convention at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

This is open not only to the Certified Security Professionals, but to all those who are involved in the security profession and those who simply want to learn more.

The convention runs until Saturday.

Those participating in Sunday’s ERUF 161 Run, which will start and finish at the Mandaue Reclamation Area, will get a chance to witness the capability of the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation to respond to all sorts of incidents.

The demonstration is set at 10 a.m. There will also be a display of the various equipment of ERUF, which is celebrating its silver anniversary on that day.

The ERUF 161 Run will have distances of 12-K, 6-K, and 3-K. Registration fee is pegged at P250 for all categories.

The race will start at 5 a.m. at the area across Parkmall.

If you haven’t signed up, go to any of the three bases of ERUF to sign up. 

Base 1 is located along Arch. Reyes Ave. across Crossroads. You can also call 2339300.

Base 2 is near the Lapu-Lapu City Hall and you can call them at 3402994. While Base 3 is inside the Cebu City Sports Center and you can contact them at 2557287.

There are also registration centers at room 406 of Medical Arts Center, Perpetual Succour Hospital and Cebu Doctors Hospital.

This is your chance to “run so that others may live.”

If you enjoy or would like to know more about baseball, the America in 3D Baseball Clinics will be held at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

This is a project of the United States Embassy and the local organizer is Jesse Bernad, who is one of the most passionate people I know when it comes to baseball.

I still have to get more details about the activity, but this is set on September 17 and 18.

Initially there was a conflict in schedule for the use of the field, which was happily ironed out according to Jesse after a meeting called by CESAFI Commissioner Felix ‘Boy’ Tiukinhoy at his office.

This is an event that is very good for baseball in this part of the world. Thanks to Commissioner Tiukinhoy for helping out.
