CBM scores grandslam in G-League swimfest
CEBU, Philippines – The Cebu Blue Marlins scored a grandslam feat in 2010 Philippine Amateur Swimming Association (PASA) G-League Short Course Swimming Championships in Dumaguete City.
After dominating the first two legs in Tagbilaran City, CBM of coach Rolando Alvarez and Matthew Vincent Vega ruled the third and final leg with a total of 1,057 points.
CBM was way ahead of Silliman University, which got only 860 points, while the Negros Dolphins placed third with 748 points followed by the Bohol Blue Dolphins with 94 points.
In the medal count, CBM snatched 30 golds,18 silvers and five bronzes from its male swimmers and a 29-16-9 haul from the distaff side.
As expected, Anthony Linn Navarro raked in the most number of medals with five golds and four silvers followed by Noel Cañeda and Michael Ichiro Kong with five golds apiece.
Anthony Linn's brother, Anthony Navarro II, handed down four golds, while Cielo Osorio came up with two golds and two silvers, Angelo Cañeda with a gold and two silvers, Aaron Grant Embuscandin with one gold, three silvers and one bronze, Christopher Paulo Zosa with 1-1-2, Fritz Tamara with 1-1-1, Israel Gabunda with 1-2-1, Anthony Rey Dela Peña with a gold and Felix Cristobal Vega with three silvers.
The CBM lady tankers were not to be outdone with the trusted Paula Abigail Vega, Lyn Ann Navarro and Beth Mae Arellano coming up with five golds apiece.
Kara Mae Indaya contributed three golds and a silver, Razel Cabajar with 2-1-1, Tara Kyle Ebon with a gold and four silvers, Danielle Mae Ballesteros with 1-1-3, Aimee Sanchez with a gold and four silvers and Romylin Niña Ignacio with three golds and a bronze.
Trina Cañeda spiced up her silver with two bronzes, April Mhel Angelie Garcia with two silvers and a bronze, Joyce Huguete with a silver and a bronze, and Patricia Mae Baguio with a silver.
CBM also swept all six golds in the relay competition to complete the Cebuanos' mission in the annual G-League regional action. (FREEMAN)
