STC Batch '87 to spearhead 'Glamour Run" on September 19

CEBU, Philippines – As if to contribute something to the running boom in Cebu, St. Theresa's College (STC) Batch '87 will spearhead the STC Glamour Run on September 19 at the Terraces grounds of Ayala Center-Cebu.

The event will feature four race lengths - 1.6K, 3K, 5K and 10K run. This is the first time that a 1.6K action, also dubbed as the Glam Run, is included for the curious ones, less-competitive or beginners to enjoy.

"With the running boom,we want to be different so we are including a 1.6-k," said STC Batch '87 chairperson of events and promotions Bikik Besavilla in yesterday's press conference at Yo.u Resto Bar in Parkmall.

More to the all-women's 1.6K Glam Run, participants will have a "retouch area" located at the water stations so that when they cross the finish line, they will still look fresh and beautiful.

Aside from the top three runners under the 1.6K run, organizers will also have a separate award for the most glamorous runner in the other classes.

Before one gets intimidated, the event organizers clarified that glamour is not just about the outer beauty, but more of the inner beauty.

"It's not just about the physical aspect, but also the right attitude," Besavilla added.

This is the second time this year that Theresians are organizing an event, the first of which was the 2nd M.O.V.E with A.I.R at the STC grounds.

The Glamour Run, directed by Runcheck, will be for the benefit of Antonia de Oviedo Center's educational services.

The beneficiary is run by the congregation of the Oblate Sisters of the Most Holy Redeemer (OSR) who are working with women victims of prostitution, sexually exploited women, unwed mothers and drug dependents.

For such a worthy cause, the race has drawn sponsorship from Summit Natural Drinking Water and 100 Plus in association with The Freeman, Childlink Learning Center, Holiday Spa and Fitness Gym, Yo.U Resto-bar, Large Form Ads, Celine Facial Center, Cream Silk, Sunstar, Ruiz Derma and Spa, Kinis, B-Meg, LCP Apparel and Accessories, Optima, CRB, Runnr, Nike Athletic Cluv, Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Ayala Center-Cebu, and Team Boyek. 

Registration fee is pegged at P250 inclusive of a singlet, race packet and snacks. Entry forms are available at RUNNR-Ayala, Cebu City Sports Center and at the Nike Athletic Club - Banilad Town Centre. (FREEMAN)
