St. Ignatius Day Run tomorrow

CEBU, Philippines - Over a thousand runners are expected to see action in the St. Ignatius Day Run at Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu in Canduman, Mandaue City tomorrow morning.

Sports and Fitness Enthusiasts (SAFE) head, Joel Baring who is handling the technical side of the event said, the event will fire off at 5:30 with one of the organizers Joevince Canizares to fire the starting gun.

This event presented by SHS-AdC in cooperation with Gaisano Capital Group will be featuring four race lengths — the 400-m run, 3-K, 5-K and 10-K.

The 400-m run will be divided into two classes — grades 3 and 4 and then grade 5 and 6. They will be battling out each other in the school’s rubberized oval.

The 3-K run, on the other hand, will have an open division for both boys and girls and the students division while the 5-K run will have an open and faculty and staff division and the premiere 10-K run with open and alumni classes.

While the 400-m run will be done at the oval, the rest of the runners will have to going out of the campus going to some parts of Talamban and will have Foodland in Banilad as the premiere division’s turning point.

After this event, runners will have no time for rest yet as another running event opens the next month with the staging of the Run for Life.

The Run For Life will start and finish at Parkmall at the Mandaue Reclamation Area.

Even with the back-to-back staging of different running events here, organizers of Run For Life are positive that will be able to come up with not less than a thousand participants. (FREEMANSPORTS)
