CEBU, Philippines - If you want to be an agent of change, this Sunday’s event is something that should not be missed - the Mandaue Run For Life 2010 beginning and ending at Parkmall grounds.
This is what the organizers want to emphasize out of this event more than just joining the bandwagon of the running boom in Cebu.
“This is a voluntary commitment of showing up and show to the rest that the Cebuanos can be united for change,” said Mandaue Business Month chairman Stanley Go in a press conference yesterday at Waterfront-Cebu City Hotel and Casino.
Talking about change, the organizers meant the promotion of a healthy lifestyle through running, building up teamwork among all those involved in the activity from the organizers to runners, support staff and marshals.
“Through running, you get revitalized as a person. When one is revitalized, you recreate, restore, reform, rectify all for a better future. This is why we opt to have a run as an opening salvo (of the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s month-long Mandaue Business Movement celebration),” added MCCI president Eric Ng Mendoza.
Proceeds of the race will go to MCCI medical mission and Dasig Kabataan Foundation, a charitable group which creates a program for the youth on personal awareness, management, values formation, health awareness, leadership training, entrepreneurship and non-sectarian spiritual development.
The event features the 15K, 10K, 5.3K and the 3K kiddies fun run. Medals, trophies and cash prizes will be given away to the top performers in each category.
Registration fee is pegged at P250 inclusive of a singlet, snacks and a raffle ticket. Entry forms are available at Dunkin’ Donuts in SM or Ayala, Runnr in Ayala, Parkmall, Holiday Spa or at the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC)-7 office situated at the Cebu City Sports Center. (FREEMAN)
