Abasola rules Mandaue cycling tourney

MANILA, Philippines - Nonoy Abasola enjoyed his freedom of getting ahead of his challengers to win the Independence Day edition of the Cebu Cycling Criterium Race at the Mandaue City reclamation area yesterday.

Abasola scanned Tyre Lambo’s battle plan completely to outsmart the latter for the top spot in class C.

After missing the title the other week over Lito Quebec, Lambo tried again only to be beaten by Abasola.

Heide Esmalin grabbed the third place honors, while Ronald Navarro landed fourth followed by Tata Matudan.

Abasola and a bunch of mountainbikers and road racers are up for a tougher challenge today with the staging of a road race from Talisay to Uling.

The race will feature an open mountainbike action and three classes in road race - B, C and D.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
