Steelers, Colts win in flag football
CEBU, Philippines - The Steelers and Colts emerged victorious after fending off their respective opponents during the Cebu Flag Football League the other day at the Cebu City Sports Center field.
Cebu Fest 2010 champ, Steelers trounced Eagles in dominating fashion, 19-6 behind Mardi Dingal, Noe Sabellon and John Wayne Pacheco.
Dingal caught two touchdown passes while Sabellon had one. It was Pacheco who earned an extra point, which led to the team’s victory.
In the other match, the Colts overpowered the Raiders, 13-6.
Ed Ugarte made an exemplary performance after throwing a couple of touchdown passes. Jimboi Arerididon caught one touch down pass while rookie Ed Casinillo caught one touch down pass and an extra point for the triumph.
The tournament follows the 7-on-7 coed format.
Orgabizer Jude Labus said that they were rebuilding the tournament, that’s why we are not increasing the number of teams yet.
But they are hoping that this would already be an annual tournament and by next year they will be increasing the number of participating teams.
Tournament manager, RJ Hobson, on the other hand, said that the last time flag football was played here at the Queen City of the South was in 2007 and so they wanted to bring it back.
