Three days to Game Time

FEEL THE GAME - Bobby Motus -

With the legitimate concerns regarding the credibility of the country’s first ever e-polls hanging in the air like a bad aftertaste, chances are the elections will push thru as scheduled. Let the pseudo-experts do their own playoffs on their arguments.

In three days, we will put into office people we think who can lead us out of the road to perdition. But come to think of it, our choices speak for the situation we are in. Actors, athletes and entertainers who will then chair the committee on silence in congress and senate will assume office, basing on the present trends.

Legal minds who are more than capable of legislation are way down below the rankings. Let’s all wake up and stop dreaming for our country if we still vote for this people.

In relation, let me tell you this story which happened in Kansas, USA a few years ago. The Rev. Joe Wright, pastor of Central Christian Church, was asked to open the session and deliver a prayer for the new Kansas Senate. This is what he said:

“Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know your word says, ‘Woe to those who call evil good,’ but it is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.”

“We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.

We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.

We have killed our unborn and called it choice.

We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.

We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem.

We have abused power and called it politics.

We have coveted our neighbors possessions and called it ambition.

We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.

We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our ancestors and called it enlightenment.”

“Search us, oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free.”

In protest, several legislators walked out during the prayer. Within six weeks, Rev. Wright received more than 5,000 phone calls of approval, with only 47 negative responses. His church at that time, received numerous international requests for copies of his prayer.

My dear readers, may this prayer enlighten us on Monday when we cast our votes and lead us to the correct choices. With the Almighty’s good graces, we still have hope and only then can we become “One nation under God.” [email protected]  – THE FREEMAN
