ANS-Pomeroy, Sta. Rita set up title duel in Inter-Club football

 CEBU, Philippines - Defending champion Abellana National School-Pomeroy and the visiting Sta. Rita booters terminated separate foes in contrasting fashion to set up a championship duel in the under-17 division of the Cebu Amateur Football Club-organized 10th National Inter-Club Football Tournament at the San Roque Parish field in Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

ANS-Pomeroy easily dismantled Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, 3-0, while Sta. Rita, manned by players from San Carlos City, fended off Don Bosco Technology Center via penalty shootout, 3-1.

John Rey Nieves delivered ANS-Pomeroy’s first goal at the 23rd. After the halftime break, Dan Villarico suddenly turned red-hot and knocked in back-to-back goals at the 54th and 68th to seal the shutout victory.

Aside from the 17-under category, all the other championship matches will also be played today at San Roque. (FREEMAN NEWS)
