Sporty holy week in bantayan Island Sportscapade kicks off today
CEBU, Philippines - This year’s Island Sportscapade gets underway with the triathlon event today at Mac’s Hideaway Beach Resort in Sta. Fe, Bantayan Island.
A bunch of triathletes from all over Cebu as well as some visiting athletes are all set for action. Among the prominent names who will join the race include Japanese Hiroshi Takei, Manila’s Sean Lim, and Bacolod ’s Noel Salvador and Franklin Echeveria to name a few.
The triathlon competition features the standard and sprint events.
The standard event is composed of a 1.5-kilometer swim, 40K bike and 10K run, while the sprint will have a 750-meter swim, 20K bike and 5K run.
The sprint also has a tandem division besides the men and women’s open.
Tomorrow, the duathlon and Oceanman will be staged at the same venue.
Cash prizes and medals await the winners of the yearly undertaking organized by Benjoe Jimenez and Sugbu Triathlon. Among its major sponsors include Rudy Project, Bloodred, Pepsi and Nature’s Spring. (FREEMAN NEWS)
