CEsafi partner's cup UC Jrs.Upstage Baby Lancers

CEBU, Philippines - The Enervon C-sponsored University of Cebu (UC) Junior Webmasters reasserted their dominance over the PTT Fuels-University of the Visayas (UV) Baby Lancers with an 89-83 victory yesterday at the start of the 4th CESAFI Partner's Cup at the Cebu Coliseum.

In the other game, the taller and bigger Ave Maria Sanctuary Park/University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Baby Jaguars grilled the San Marino Corned Tuna-backed University of San Carlos (USC) Baby Warriors, 90-79

In last year's CESAFI season, UC completed a two-game sweep over UV to claim the third place honors in the juniors division.

With star player Gerald Ampoon now campaigning in the collegiate level, Adamme Talisic picked up the slack with 13 points for the Junior Webmasters. John Raphael Aranas added 12 points followed by Clint Saramosing with 10.

Gerald Legarde topscored the Baby Lancers with 18 points.

In the other game, the Baby Jaguars outscored the Baby Warriors, 17-6, in the final four minutes of the contest to come up with an 11-point romp. Instrumental for the explosive rally were June Arthur Go and Arlister Escatron.

With the score stood at 73-all with 3:42 left to play, Go hit a twinner and moments later Escatron knocked in a back-breakling triple to ignite USJ-R's fiery endgame assault.

Go paced the Baby Jaguars with 19 points, while Escatron and Frego Montecillo finished with 13 and 12 markers, respectively.

Thirdy Uy led USC with 15 points.
