Jonel's Trucking wins, shares lead in BLBA
CEBU, Philippines - The Jonel's Trucking of team owner Joey Cal scored a 108-105 come-from-behind victory over the RCAF squad to share the lead with G.I. Rion at 10-2 win-loss slate after the elimination round of the Barangay Labangon Basketball Association (BLBA) 2009 Christmas tournament at the Labangon Sports Complex, this city.
RCAF dribblers started hot and after taking a tight 27-25 first quarter lead, increased its advantage to 54-48 after the second period.
Jonel’s Trucking started to hit the basket in the third period starring Rowel Sumalinog and Pitoy Mata.
The duo continued to star for Jonel’s trucking helping the team overpower RCAF with a flurry of points in the final canto.
Sumalinog topped all scorers with 35 points while Mata chipped in 21 points. Skipper Erik Espinosa added 13 points with other teammates Alfie Lansang and Andro Navajo netting 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Alwen Tabasa scored 28 points for RCAF while Danrey Baclay and Romy Faunillan had 21 points.
