CEBU, Philippines - Cansojong squeaked past Dumlog by the narrowest of margins, 84-83, to snatch the seniors division title in the 2009 Talisay City Mayor’s Cup basketball tournament at the Talisay City Sports Complex.
Dumlog actually led in the early goings of the game, posting a three point advantage at the end of the first period behind Maiko Seguerra and Jhake Villaver.
Dumlog continued to pounce on Cansojong in the second canto to pad its lead to a dozen points, 46-34, at halftime.
However, Dumlog suffered a monumental collapse in the final half, enabling Cansojong to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat behind the fiery uprising masterminded by Rogelio Pogoy, Nino Cabigas and Jevoner Rosagaran.
Pogoy torched 25 points to become the hands down choice as MVP. He automatically made it to the Mythical Five alongside his teammate Aniñon, Dumlog’s Christopher Obeso and Evan Antipuesto and Poblacion 1’s Diosdado Iglamo, Jr.
