Carcel dominates 2nd leg of Asian Karting Championships

-

CEBU, Philippines – As the going gets tough, promising Cebuano go-kart racer Tonyo Carcel never gave up, paving the way for him to score a come-from-behind victory in the second leg of the Asian Karting Open Championships the other day in Carmona, Cavite.Carcel, a student of Paref-Springdale, was starting out 12 in the grid. Inspite of that, he managed to overtake the frontliners one by one until he reached the top.

For the young Carcel, there was no way he would give up the fight as he badly needed to win after missing the first leg.

Carcel posted the best time of 48.3 seconds in the race.

To make his Carmona sojourn more memorable, Carcel also bagged the Yamaha Cup junior title under the National Series. John Castelar finished second followed by Milo Rivera.

Tonyo’s younger sister Kali also earned a share of the spotlight by placing third in the mini ROK division won by Marino Sato. Christian Gaddi took the first runnerup honors. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
