16 teams sign up in GUV Cup airsoft tilt

CEBU, Philippines – Sixteen teams have signed up for the Governor Gwen Garcia Airsoft Open (GUV Cup) slated June 20 in Argao.

The teams will vie for the top five spots in the tournament, the penultimate leg of a series of airsoft tournaments in Cebu. The final tournament will be taking place in Mandaue City.

Earlier, Moalboal, Balamban and San Remegio, hosted the second, third and fourth legs, respectively.

Initially, organizers thought of giving only the top three teams from each leg the berths in the championship. Some teams, however, repeatedly dominated the legs, thus organizers developed a point system to give other teams some chances.

The top 16 teams after the Argao leg (including those from other legs) will move to the final in Mandaue City according to Jerry Winnona “Nona” Catipay, GUV Cup Airsoft executive director. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
