Carcar leg of Time Out Basketball Clinic to take place May 23-June 21

CEBU, Philippines – The second batch of the Carcar leg of Time Out Basketball Clinic will take place from May 23 to June 21 at the Villadolid Gym.The training is divided into two levels, the Beginners from 8 to 10 am and the Advanced from 10 am to 12nn every Saturday and Sunday.

The month-long camp is open to boys and girls aged seven to 17 years old. Entry fee is pegged at only P700 inclusive of a basketball

The annual cage camp will be supervised by Rex Salvaña, former assistant coach of the Cebu Gems. He also once served as chief bench tactician of the Misamis Oriental Meteors in the defunct Mindanao Visayas Basketball Association (MVBA).

Salvaña will be assisted by former pro and commercial stars Bong Abad and Aldrin Barola. Abad, current assistant of reigning Liga Pilipinas champion Misamis Oriental Meteors, once played with San Miguel Beer in the PBA, while Barola formerly donned the IPI-Mama’s Love jersey in the PBL.

Time Out will focus on the fundamentals of basketball such as proper passing, dribbling, shooting and footwork. It will also take up on-court communication, appropriate defensive stance and offensive patterns and some other related drills.

Also included in its training module are values formation and character education. This is being done in an effort not only to harness the talents of aspiring hoopters but also help them mold as better individuals and athletes of good moral standing. – THE FREEMAN
