Oslob, Boljoon drub foes in Galeos Cup hoopfest

CEBU, Philippines – Oslob debuted with an 89-85 victory over the Alcoy Miners, while Boljoon scored a 98-78 rout over Sibonga in the inter-town division of the Mayor Edsel Galeos Cup 2009 last Sunday at the newly-constructed Pres. Diosdado Macapagal Sports and Cultural Center in Argao, Cebu.

In the commercial divison, the Firebulls tripped the Cup-J, 81-54.

 John Lastimosa spearheaded Oslob’s offense with 28 points, while playmaker Diodato Lunday added 19 points.

Joey Alvarado paced Alcoy with 23 points.

 The Anjo Nicanor-mentored Boljoon squad was led by Gilbert Andujar and Resty Getubig with 26 and 22 points, respectively. Noel Alima topped Sibonga with 22 markers.

Meanwhile, Charissa de la Cruz, a 21-year-old junior BS Tourism student of the University of Cebu (UC) representing Sibonga romped off with the Miss Inter-Town award, while Tracy Maureen Perez, a 16-year-old high school student from St. Michael School of Argao representing the Poblacion-C, was named as the best muse in the inter-zonal division.

Argao Mayor Edsel A. Galeos formally declared the tournament open.
