MetroSports re-launches summer sports camp

CEBU, Philippines - To make the summer more memorable and productive for young and old alike, MetroSports is back with its summer camp starting on April 13 at the MetroSports along Salinas Drive in Brgy. Lahug, this city.

The month-long activity, which was formally launched at the Crown Regency Hotel yesterday, will feature eight events including capoeira and yoga.

The management of MetroSports wants to show that there is more to than just badminton in its facility with the different sporting disciplines it offers.

The rest include aikido, basketball, karatedo, badminton, sportsclimbing, and boxing.

Basketball will be handled by former PBA star and current University of the Visayas (UV) Lancers assistant coach Al Solis, while boxing will be taken cared of by Joseph Flores, an instructor who comes from the well-known boxing Flores clan of Mandaue City.

The other training camp directors are Scout Tumulak in aikido, Edwin Pajanonot in karatedo, Ramil Kyamko and Josef Ricaza in badminton, Roy Duller in wall climbing, and Jem Capao and Blanch Ladesa in yoga.

Registration fees are pegged at P3,500 for capoeira and aikido, P3,000 for boxing, P3,600 for basketball, and P2,500 for wall climbing and yoga.

Majory of the sporting events will have a minimum of 10 sessions and a maximum of 15.

The consistent prodding of the parents paved the way for the Metrosport to hold this summer camp again.

On the other hand, the aspiring hoopsters should grab the opportunity to enroll at Metrosports this summer as coach Solis will be utilizing the module used in the National Basketball Training Center.

All the coaches are encouraging the past trainees to join the summer workshop once again to check on their progress as well as further hone their skills so they would become a more competitive athlete.

A mini tournament and a demonstration will be conducted at the end of the camp to test the know-how of the participants. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
