P100T at stake in 1st Talisay Baruto Regatta Festival on March 26

CEBU, Philippines - A total of P100,000 in cash prizes will be given away to the top performers of the 1st Talisay Baruto Regatta Festival in Talisay City on March 26.

Event organizer David Odilao Jr. said during yesterday’s weekly SCOOP-Cebu Forum at Baseline Restaurant that they are targeting at least 50 participants.

The contest will be done after the re-enactment of the Talisay liberation landing.

 “I have observed that sayang kaayo nga after sa re-enactment, wala nay laing buhaton ang mga tawo. We are organizing this so that the people will have something to look forward to after the re-enactment,” said Odilao.

All the competitors will navigate the seas of Talisay going to the boundary of SRP and the Lagundi reef.

Each boat will have two riders, the main man and his assistant.

Those who are interested to join the race must be a certified fisherman. For that, they need to get a certification from their respective barangay captains.

Those who fail to barge into the top five spot will not go home empty-handed as some goodies will be handed out to all the entries. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol   (THE FREEMAN)
