CEBU, Philippines – The Prime Asia Pawnshop/UV Lancers yesterday needed only a third quarter run to score a come-from-behind 90-80 victory over the R. Lapid’s Chicharon/DBTC in the ongoing CESAFI Partner’s Cup at the Cebu Coliseum.
Trailing by eight points at the half 37-45 the Lancers resorted to trapping defense which resulted into countless passing errors by the Greywolves.
A walk-in-the park lay-up by Harold Cincoflores capped an 11-1 third quarter spurt to give the Lancers the upper hand 48-46.
The Greywolves tied the count at 56 for the last time on a basket by Ricmat Pertubos but the Lancers regained the lead in no time then held on to pocket the game.
The win gives UV a 4-2 slate while DBTC dropped to 1-5.
Ritchum Dennison, a pesky defender led the Lancers with 25 points while Harold Cincoflores, a slippery point guard, added 19 points.
Jerome Villaver and Jefford Aldave topscored for the Greywolves with 18 and 17 points, respectively.
As of press time, the game between second placer Enervon/UC Webmasters and Virginia/CIT Wildcats was still in progress. (GGM) (THE FREEMAN)
