2009 MS Motosuit Motocross Series fires off this Sunday in Jubay, Liloan
CEBU - It’s showtime once again for Cebu’s daredevils and some visiting riders with the 2009 MS Motosuit Motocross Series kicking off this Sunday in Sitio Tuburan, Jubay, Lilo-an. The 4th edition of the annual race will be co-presented by Castrol Philippines, which agreed to back up MS Motosuit for the entire year.
“Naay nawala na sponsor due to some problems within their company, but mas daghan ang nagpabilin. And I’m so thankful to Castrol that they are back to support as again not only for the first leg, but for the entire series,” said event organizer and MS Motosuit big boss Lou Ornopia.
The opening leg will be dubbed as the 8th Barangay Captain Manuel Wagas Motocross Cup organized by no less than the barangay’s chief executive himself.
Just like the previous stagings, the Wagas Cup is staged in time for the Sinulog grand mardi gras.
Inspite of that, loyal supporters of motocross have come to gather around and witness the race.
The same support is expected this year especially that the organizers are not only making sure that their hosting will be a successful one, but also to get recognition for the best racetrack in the series.
With that in mind, more challenging racetracks are highly-anticipated by the riders.
Aside from the new racetrack designs, motocross fans also brace for some changes in terms of the classification of riders because some are moving to a higher class, while the rest are downgrading their respective level of competitiveness.
After this Sunday’s race, the riders will have no time for rest with the staging of second leg on January 25 in the northern Cebu municipality of Daanbantayan. It will be dubbed as the Agujo Motocross Challenge spearheaded by Malou Pepito.
The 2009 action will feature not less than 12 legs with last year’s benefactors already sending feelers to host anew. Among them are Oriental Negros, Carcar, Consolacion, and San Remigio, which is committed to hold two legs in the town proper and in Calambua. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
